Glimpsed

love-inner-child.jpg

Sometimes I glimpse the small child within you, the petulant scowl aimed right at me, foot kicking the dirt, worrying a stone loose to kick at me. He wants to growl and hiss and scratch at me, I’m never quite sure if I should soften and reach to embrace you with a softened tone as your Mother never did or stand my ground as my Mother never did.
